Most authors who work with me soon learn that my spirituality comes through, acknowledging the connection to my intuition and to the guidance I receive as we work together. It’s impossible for me to keep it hidden from my clients; yet, I don’t normally put too much out publicly to acknowledge that aspect of myself. At this time of year, however, it feels important to do so, especially on the Winter Solstice.

The Winter Solstice is a significant moment in the calendar of the year, and for me, it is a holy time. It represents the moment when darkness is upon us, immediately followed by the progressive return of the light.

A Powerful Time of Year

The Winter Solstice is one of the most powerful times of the year because it is the time when the Earth’s axis pauses, shifts, and changes direction. In the days just before, during, and after, we can experience the power of the standstill and the shift in direction, being “encouraged” by its energy to consider our own future shifts.

At the time of the solstice, we experience the intensity of darkness—a time when we have the opportunity to look inward to those aspects of ourselves we may try to keep hidden or not want to acknowledge.

In the shroud and safety of darkness, we are invited to look at those aspects to understand them and to consider what changes we might make in the future. We are also invited to consider and to begin to appreciate the magnificence and majesty of our inner light, which can be easier for us to see in the darkness.

Just as with the season of winter that begins now, the solstice marks the beginning of a sacred time of rest and reflection before all begins to awaken. It represents the great stillness before the Sun grows stronger and our days grow longer. It encourages us to take time to pause and go inward, to see the truth of our beingness—the dark and the light—to appreciate the ALL.

Shine Bright

May this Winter Solstice bring you peaceful calm and quiet knowingness. May your light shine bright in the year ahead! And, if writing a book is an aspect of shining your light, I’d love to chat with you—so please reach out.

For today, at this blessed time of year, I wish to leave you with a piece I wrote as a gift to my spiritual circle. Happy Winter Solstice and Happy Holidays!

Winter Solstice’s Gift

*
Darkness
returns
Invite it in
Acknowledge its presence
There is nothing to fear
Allow it to enwrap you
To cover you with its nurturing quiet
To infuse you with its peaceful calm
Like a seed protected by the earth’s soil
You are safe—you are shielded
This is your time to go inward
This is your season to seek your inner knowing
To be guided by True North’s star—yes Polaris is with you!
Like Venus, who shines brightly in the early morning eastern sky
You are an illuminescent being—you are a guiding light
Take darkness’s gift and gather more stardust
Collect the elements necessary for your transformation
Tap into your deepest wisdom
And prepare yourself for your calling—
To let your light shine brightly
For all to see and feel
To spread your gifts, O bright One!
And let the healing of all continue!
